Sample Applications
In this section of the Chiral Resource Center
we have included a number of applications taken from different areas of chiral analysis.
These examples will help the novice understand better how chiral detection can be applied.
The more experienced chemist may also get some new ideas. We have divided these examples
into the following topics:
- Agricultural
Chemicals
Detecting o,p'-DDD
(dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane) and o,p'-DDT (dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane)
in environmental samples
- Amino Acids
Determining enantiomeric excess of D-(+)-
and L-(-)- phenylalanine mixtures when chromatographic resolution is poor
- Antibiotics
Four antibiotic applications separating the
analogs of erythromycin, gentamicin, pencillin and tetracycline
- Carbohydrates
Two examples comparing detection
sensitivity of RI, UV and OR with dihydrobenzoin and malto-oligosaccharides
- Flavorings
Detection of limonene using Flow Injection
Analysis (FIA)
- Process Chemistry
Using chiral detection to follow the
enzymatic influence of glucose oxidase
- Unresolved Peaks
Analyzing an enantiomeric mixture of D-(+)-
and L-(-)- phenylalanine
If you do not see an application relevant to
your area of interest, please contact us so that we can continually update the Examples
area.
